In Uttar Pradesh, 115 of the 117 sanctioned biogas plants are operational, processing cow dung and waste into clean fuel and organic fertilizer. They have an installed capacity of 6,230 cubic meters, generating ₹24 lakh in revenue over two years.
The GOBARdhan scheme supports this initiative, offering ₹50 lakh per plant. Examples include Lalitpur's Karipahadi village, which earns over ₹3 lakh from its biogas plant and flour mills, and Shravasti's Tandwa Mahant, where a plant powers a flour mill and generates additional income.
Rampur's Kira Gram Panchayat saves ₹2.5 lakh from its biogas plant, used for electricity and irrigation. These models enhance rural self-reliance and sanitation while creating jobs and supporting farmers.
