Vero Beach Seeks $23.5 Million in Federal Earmark Funding for Infrastructure Projects
Vero Beach is pursuing $23.5 million in federal earmark funding for five projects, marking its first request of this kind. The initiatives focus on wastewater treatment, flood protection, and coastal infrastructure, aiming to enhance local resilience and environmental management.

Vero Beach has submitted five projects for a total of $23.5 million in federal earmark funding, with a focus on enhancing local infrastructure. The priority project is a $5 million request for a new wastewater treatment facility, part of a $164 million initiative to replace an aging plant that impacts the Indian River Lagoon.
Other requests include $1.5 million for Humiston Park Boardwalk reconstruction, $3 million for flood protection in Oakmont Park, $4 million for a stormwater filtration system at Jaycee Park, and $10 million for seawall improvements at Conn Beach. Approval of these earmarks would provide vital financial support, but the city's experience with the application process may influence future funding opportunities.
