Việt Nam to Transition to Nationwide Biofuel Use from June 1
Việt Nam will switch to the nationwide use of biofuels starting June 1, aiming to reduce emissions and enhance energy security. Biofuel-blended petrol will replace conventional fossil fuels as the standard fuel.
This initiative supports the government’s strategy to cut greenhouse gas emissions and bolster the agricultural sector. The introduction of biofuels is expected to lower carbon emissions from road transport, a significant pollution source.
Biofuels are renewable and compatible with existing vehicle technology and infrastructure. Authorities confirm that fuel producers are ready for this transition with adequate supply capacity. The policy is expected to foster investment in domestic biofuel production, creating economic opportunities for farmers and supporting rural development. Việt Nam's adoption of biofuels aligns with global efforts to decarbonize transport and promote sustainable energy.
