Volvo Penta Launches G17 Natural Gas Engine for Data Centre Backup Power

BIOFUELSGAS TURBINES & ENGINESNATURAL GAS

Volvo Penta has launched the G17 natural gas engine to meet the increasing demand for reliable, low-emission backup power in data centres. The 17-litre, 6-cylinder engine operates on both conventional and renewable natural gas, contributing to lower carbon emissions.

It delivers approximately 450 kWe at 1800 rpm while maintaining a compact design to reduce installation space and costs. The G17 is engineered to meet emission standards with reduced NOₓ and particulate matter, featuring advanced combustion controls and high-efficiency catalysts. Its flexibility allows for integration with existing infrastructure and broader energy strategies, making it suitable for space-constrained environments.
