Waga Energy Secures CA$15M for RNG Project at Hébertville-Station Landfill in Quebec
Waga Energy has secured CA$15M from Quebec's Ministry of Economy, Innovation, and Energy to support its Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) project at the Hébertville-Station landfill. The funding will facilitate the construction of an RNG production unit using Waga Energy's WAGABOX® technology, aiming to integrate 10% of RNG into Quebec's gas network by 2030 and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by avoiding 9,400 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent annually. This initiative marks Waga Energy's fifth RNG project in Canada.

Waga Energy has received CA$15M (US$10.8M) in financial aid from Quebec's Ministry of Economy, Innovation, and Energy for its Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) project at the Hébertville-Station landfill. The funding will support the construction of an RNG production unit in collaboration with the waste management authority of Lac-Saint-Jean.
Announced on January 13, 2026, by Minister Éric Girard, this project aims to integrate 10% of RNG into Quebec's gas network by 2030, contributing to the province's greenhouse gas emission reduction goals. The unit will utilize Waga Energy's WAGABOX® technology to convert landfill biogas into RNG, producing up to 188,000 MMBtu/year, sufficient for approximately 2,900 households and avoiding 9,400 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions annually. This marks Waga Energy's fifth RNG project in Canada, following existing units in Quebec and British Columbia.
