Zambia Launches Waste-to-Energy Project at Soweto Market with Misereor Support
The Civic Forum on Housing and Habitat Zambia launched a waste-to-energy initiative at Soweto Market, supported by Misereor and the Lusaka City Council. The €100,000 project aims to reduce waste and promote clean energy by converting organic market waste into biogas and organic fertilizer using a bio-digester system. The initiative focuses on improving sanitation and creating economic opportunities, particularly for women running restaurants. Implementation is expected to begin next quarter.
