Zuid-Holland to Consider €6.1 Million Subsidy for Manure Digestion Facility in Giessenburg
Dairy farmers in Giessenburg are seeking a €6.1 million subsidy from the province of Zuid-Holland by 2026 to establish a manure digestion facility. This initiative aims to convert manure into green gas, contributing to the goal of making Bleskensgraaf gas-free by 2032 under the project BLES2032.
Since 2023, a working group has been exploring opportunities for manure digestion, surveying farmers in Bleskensgraaf, Oud-Alblas, Molenaarsgraaf, and Brandwijk. Giessenburg emerged as the most promising location.
The municipality of Molenlanden and the working group are considering a single site for upgrading biogas for participating farmers. The provincial budget includes provision for the subsidy, with a decision anticipated in the first quarter of 2026.
