Zukunft-Biogas.at Campaign Launched to Advocate for Renewable Gas Law in Austria
The Austrian Compost & Biogas Association (KBVÖ) has launched the Zukunft-Biogas.at campaign to advocate for an ambitious Renewable Gas Law (EGG) in Austria. The campaign seeks to facilitate investments, provide planning security, and promote domestic biomethane as a storable, grid-compatible energy source. The initiative aims to reduce reliance on fossil imports, enhance energy stability, and foster regional economic value through renewable gas production from agricultural residues and biowaste.

The Zukunft-Biogas.at campaign, initiated by the Austrian Compost & Biogas Association (KBVÖ), aims to mobilize support for a Renewable Gas Law (EGG) in Austria. The campaign emphasizes the need for a clear political framework to enable investments in renewable gases, particularly biomethane.
It highlights that increasing domestic biomethane production can decrease import dependency and stabilize energy prices, especially during cold periods or crises. Biomethane can directly replace fossil natural gas across various applications, contributing to regional economic benefits and job creation. Citizens, businesses, and municipalities are invited to support the initiative by signing the petition.
