Cagece to Invest R$ 3.1 Billion in Ceará Water Infrastructure Projects
Cagece will commence construction on Ceará's first desalination plant in May 2026, investing R$ 1.5 billion. A new water treatment station will also be built, requiring an additional R$ 1.6 billion, as the company aims to address significant water loss in the region.

Cagece is set to start building a desalination plant in Ceará in May 2026, with planned expenditures reaching R$ 1.5 billion. Alongside this, a water treatment facility will be developed near the Gavião reservoir at a cost of R$ 1.6 billion.
The Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza currently experiences a water loss rate of 42%, exceeding the national average of 38%. In the previous fiscal year, Cagece reported revenues of R$ 2.5 billion and total investments of R$ 3.5 billion.
Moreover, approximately 600,000 properties lack sewage connections, while 1.7 million are connected to both water and sewage systems. The company is also preparing to provide reclaimed water for industrial applications, indicating a commitment to sustainable water management.
